1. Who we are

checkmyrates, South Africa runs checkmyrates and is responsible for your personal data. Contact: [email protected].

2. What we collect

  • Analytics and advertising measurement, only if you accept cookies: pages viewed, buttons clicked, device and browser details, approximate location from your IP address, and the site you came from. This is collected by Google Analytics and the Facebook (Meta) Pixel.
  • Messages: anything you send us.
  • Server logs: our hosting provider keeps basic technical logs, such as IP address and time of visit, for security and to keep the site running.

What we do not collect: the figures you type into the calculator, which stay in your browser, and card details, which we never ask for.

3. Why we use it, and our legal basis

  • To understand which pages help and to measure adverts: your consent, through the cookie choice.
  • To keep the site secure and working: our legitimate interests.
  • To reply to you: our legitimate interests, or to take steps you ask for.

4. Who we share it with

We share data only with the services we use to run the site: Google (analytics), Meta (advertising measurement), and our website host and content delivery provider. We do not sell your data.

5. Transfers abroad

Some of these providers are based outside your country, for example in the United States. Where the law requires it, we rely on approved safeguards for those transfers.

6. How long we keep it

Analytics data is kept for the period set in our Google Analytics account. Messages are kept as long as needed to deal with them.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under UK and EU GDPR, South Africa’s POPIA, Australia’s Privacy Act, New Zealand’s Privacy Act, and some US state laws), you may have the right to see, correct or delete your data, to object to or restrict how it is used, to withdraw consent at any time, and to complain to your data protection regulator. To use these rights, contact [email protected]. You can change your cookie choice at any time on the cookies page.

8. Children

The service is for businesses and is not aimed at anyone under 18.

9. Changes
