Frequently asked questions

Who is this calculator for?

Payment consultants whose merchant pays one flat percentage on every card payment, often with a terminal bought or rented and a few extra fees. It compares that with pricing set by card type.

How is a bought terminal counted?

The one-off price is divided by 12, so it becomes a monthly cost added to the rest. It counts in the first year only. From year 2 the terminal is not counted, and the results show the year one and year two rates.

How are the transactions worked out?

Monthly card turnover divided by the average transaction value, rounded to a whole number. Per-transaction and authorisation fees use that number.

What does the card split assume?

It assumes the same average transaction value on every card type, so each card type's share of transactions equals its share of value. The split has to add up to 100% before our price is shown.

Is anything saved or sent?

No. The calculator runs in your browser. What you type is kept on your own device only, so it is still there next time, and you can load the demo numbers or clear everything at any time.

This calculator gives an illustration based on the numbers you enter. It is not a quote, financial advice or legal advice. Check any offer with the provider in writing.

Need the whole statement worked out?

The free calculator handles every card type and fee on a standard statement and builds a three-page quote PDF.
